Return to Normandy
In April 2003, Harold Plank returned to Normandy, France, with his wife, a son, and three grandsons to revisit the sites of the D-Day invasion. It was his only return trip to the places where he had fought so bravely during the war. As Harold walked the historic beaches and battlefields, the journey was filled with poignant memories and reflections. Along the way, he met many people who expressed their deep gratitude for his service during the D-Day invasion. The experience allowed him to honor his fallen comrades and contemplate the profound impact of those events on his life and history.
Under the provisions of AR 600-45, it is recommended that Harold F. Plank, Private, Naval Shore Fire Control, 2nd Ranger Battalion, be awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
